Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book
movie history as the film bombed at the box office on opening night.
It has only made $114million worldwide against its $200million budget.
The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as ‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters on Friday, October
4, but it only raked in $20 million at the domestic box office, per
The Hollywood Reporter.
Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel, which had earned him
an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel
(Harley Quinn).
However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a comic book movie.
Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received
terrible reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience
score of 31% and a critic score of 32%.
The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50
million at the domestic box office during
the entirety of opening weekend, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring in around $70 million –
but the number has since drastically dropped.
Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the film
first released in theaters – and eventually landed a little over $1 billion in the global
box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips –
had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the
budget increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.
The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from both critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker
(Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award for Best
Original Score.
The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month in September,
where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.
A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one
could get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.
However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their
opinions on the sequel, which features musical sequences.
One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this.
what happened to the script?’ while another added,
‘is it that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.
‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good
choice. It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed.
‘But with some original songs, that keep everything vague,
not just covers. Also when I heard of the ending I snorted
fr.’
A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as
musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’
‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and decided to randomly
add musical scenes to fill the runtime,’ one penned.
‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared,
along with a monkey staring out a window.
One fan said, ‘the movie sucks. i had to walk out of the cinema,’ while another penned, ‘After years

‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.
‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever.’
A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.
has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.’
‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs were also underwhelming too.
they shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’
One shared, ‘The audience that loved the first movie
is not the same audience running to see musicals.
This was a gigantic mistake from step 1.’
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether he
would be interested in making a third Joker film
or a movie centered around Gaga’s character.
‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me. I feel like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.’
Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.
Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up
to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday.

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans, with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could
be at risk.
While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat,
critics have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first hit but with an added musical twist.
Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the movie and claimed she was only bought in for the musical aspect of it.
While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live up to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant.’
Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’ but said
it lacked any thrill.
The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker is
best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films of the last
decade, while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and formally
daring as its predecessor’.
Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel
following the first movie’s $1billion success.
Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked
hard to bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no idea
what to do with her.
Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’
Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by
critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday; seen in September
in London
The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd Phillips said
there would be no follow-up to the original, but he changed his mind and the result is a
derivative musical’
‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning performance since
Anthony Hopkins reworked his silky and terrifying Dr Lecter from for the campy, kitschy.’
Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars that
had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson,
Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.
Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional backlash from
fans as they have claimed that Gaga is running the risk of
losing her acting career.
The existence of an exclusive hideaway for
the country’s movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private
luxury first exploded into the public eye back in 2007.
Back then, the fact that Qantas spent hundreds of thousands of dollars wining and
dining the nation’s political elite in ultra-exclusive
VIP lounges was relatively unknown.
It was a time before Alan Joyce’s tenure as the CEO of Qantas had even started, when he was boss of the comparatively lowly budget airline, Jetstar.
And unlike Anthony Albanese’s current slide in the polls leading up to an election in next year, the prospects back in 2007 were rosy for Labor.
The election that was looming was the ‘Kevin 07’ landslide that would
see Kevin Rudd become prime minister and John Howard
lose his own seat.
The issue which blew open the ‘guilty secret’ of the Chairman’s Lounge then wasn’t about a prime minister’s privileges, although John Howard and Kevin Rudd were certainly both members during their terms as PM.
But when broadcaster Steve Price – himself a long time Chairman’s Lounge member – revealed a politically charged
remark made within the club’s hallowed walls, the cat was out of the bag.
The political revelation – a comment by ex-rock
star turned senator Peter Garrett that Labor would change the policies it campaigned on if it
won government – did not deter his party from romping in on election day.
In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge
membership and that of his ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their
son Nathan could bring down the prime minister.
The exclusive Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (above) has been a well-kept secret for years,
but it exploded into the public conscience in 2007 as the
result of a political furore
Broadcaster Steve Price revealed he had been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002 during
a row before the 2007 election won by Kevin Rudd which let
the cat out of the bag about the VIP club
The existence of the lounge was so little known back in 2007 that in defending his disclosure of
Garrett’s remark, Steve Price had to explain what
the private enclave actually was.
In a first person piece he wrote: ‘The Chairman’s Lounge is a separate frequent flyers lounge away from the crowded normal Qantas Club.
‘As its name implies, the people given access to it are approved
by the Qantas chairman, Margaret Jackson.
‘I have been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002.’
In his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins was
also a member of lounge.
Wilkins had also been inside at the time and was his only witness
to the remark Price said Garrett had made.
Other prominent media figures, such as 60 Minutes reporters, actors
and performers, and well-known writers and sports people are said to be among the lounge’s exclusive membership of around 6000.
Price went on to defend himself for reporting what
some claimed was a confidential conversation in a private place, but which exposed him to criticism
over his own membership for allegedly promoting Qantas on his radio show.
Back in 2007, Alan Joyce (left) was boss of the comparatively lowly
budget airline Jetstar, and then Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon (right) had the power over
who made the cut to the Chairman’s Lounge
One observer has described the relationship bet6ween leading politicians such as PM Anthony Albanese and the former
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce (above) as ‘alarmingly cosy’
‘Why on earth is Qantas giving a controversial shock jock membership of its
Chairman’s Lounge, which is supposedly to enable our elite politicians and business leaders some
privacy from the hoi polloi?’ demanded Crikey reporter
Stephen Mayne at the time.
‘The Chairman’s Lounge is meant to be all about discretion and confidentiality,’ he said,
accusing Price of breaking ‘a confidence’.
The following year, before he was succeeded as Qantas CEO by Alan Joyce, Geoff Dixon was the sole gatekeeper of
entry into the club’s hushed confines.
Qantas Chairman’s Lounge membership was ‘so exclusive that you have to be personally invited
by the airline’s chieftain’, Nine newspapers reported in 2008.
‘A marvellous benefit of lounge membership is that the mega rich and powerful
avoid having to mingle with the riffraff who will be travelling cattle
class.
‘Having said that, members of the ultra-exclusive club have included Pauline Hanson.
‘Another lounge member is Brad Cooper, who is currently enjoying a prolonged exposure to cattle-class in Kirkconnell Correctional
Centre.’ (Cooper was the former HIH insurance executive jailed for eight years on fraud and bribery
offences).
Membership of the elite lounge is confined to about 6000 Australians including
politicians from both sides, senior public servants,
TV stars and actors
The ‘scandal’ currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge membership and
that of his ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring
down the prime minister (above the PM with partner Jodie Haydon and

The report noted that politicians declaring membership of
the lounge ‘which most of their spouses got too’ in their pecuniary interests that
year included Liberal MPs of the day, Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin and Andrew Southcott.
Labor MPs with lounge privileges included Tanya Plibersek,
Bob McMullan, and Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared a bottle of Grange hermitage as a gift from Qantas,
as did Liberal, Christopher Pyne.
Asked if all MPs got the captain’s pick from Geoff Dixon, the airline’s
spokesperson told Nine: ‘We like to retain a bit of mystery. Membership is by invitation only and it
is reviewed periodically.’
Fast forward to today, and nearly every single federal politician in the
country has accepted free membership of the controversial,
invitation-only lounge with one even describing it as an ‘entitlement’.
Qantas and the Albanese government recently
denied the ‘very, very high-end perk’ gives the airline a disproportionate level of influence over
the country’s politicians.
They were commenting ahead of the launch of the new book The Chairman’s Lounge
by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston, which has stirred up the controversy.
A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers – in both Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives
and the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders
have been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive
lounge.
Mr Albanese has defended himself by saying he declared all his benefits in pecuniary
interest statements.
At a press conference this week, he repeated that all of his upgrades ‘have been declared
as appropriate. What’s appropriate is transparency.’
Apart from the PM, members include every one of his 22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12
assistant ministers.

members of the exclusive Chairman’s Lounge
Entry to the country’s six opulent VIP clubs are suitably discreet, but
once inside, the designer lounges offer free à la carte fine dining, table
service and a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants
On the Coalition side of parliament, Opposition Leader
Peter Dutton, deputy leader David Littleproud and former deputy Barnaby Joyce are also among the swathes
of politicians who have disclosed they have taken up free membership to the contentious club.
Bill Shorten is a member, Tanya Plibersek is
still a member and so is Teal MP, Zali Steggall.
Last year it was reported that Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and
Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo and some of their deputies are members of the Chairman’s Lounge
despite regulating the airline.
Senior public servants in the club included Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Glyn Davis, deputy
secretaries Nadine Williams, Liz Hefren-Webb, Rachel Bacon and ambassador to Beijing, Scott Dewar.
Other Qantas freebies bestowed on members include numerous business class
flight upgrades, model Qantas aircrafts, frequent flyer points, and tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
Touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership to
the Chairman’s Lounge is still veiled in secrecy.
The new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston (above) has stirred up the controversy

Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane,
Adelaide, Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.
Once inside, however, the designer lounges are noticeably luxurious, with free à la
carte fine dining, table service, a decadent selection of wines and
Champagne and a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants.
Virgin Airlines has its own version of the VIP enclave, the ‘Beyond’ lounge.
Only a handful of federal politicians have relinquished their membership
to the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge in the wake of the furore.
The select few to take a principled stand on the issue include South Australian senator Barbara Pocock and former Wallabies star turned ACT senator
David Pocock, along with MPs Stephen Bates, Queensland Green Elizabeth Watson-Brown, and
Monique Ryan, a Teal from Victoria.
Geoffrey Watson SC, a former counsel assisting the Independent Commission Against Corruption and a director of the Centre for Public Integrity, has
implored all politicians and policymakers to follow suit.
‘There are certain positions in life where you cannot
take Chairman’s Club membership,’ he said.
‘You’re taking public money for the job and you are supposed to represent the public.
Why not sit with them while you’re waiting for a plane?’
Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the hostages who remain in Gaza
if he died, a top Israeli negotiator has claimed.
Sinwar died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance, sending a drone to kill the terror leader.
Gershon Baskin, the Israeli negotiator who oversaw Sinwar’s 2011 release from an Israeli prison, along with 1,026 Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for the return of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shilat, said that his death was a ‘moment of
either opportunity or a moment of doom.’
‘A moment of doom because there are rumours that Sinwar instructed people holding hostages that, should he be killed,
they should kill their hostages,’ he told the Telegraph.
At the time of Sinwar’s death, just over 100 hostages remained in Gaza, with 60 thought
to still be alive.
Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned
to their families, according Haaretz, which reported on Sunday that top US officials, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, have assessed
there is a slim chance of a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel and Hamas.

They added: ‘It’s unclear how Sinwar’s
death will impact any potential negotiations, if they
even exist at this stage.’
While Baskin told the Telegraph that it wasn’t possible to confirm whether Sinwar had a kill order on the hostages, he
said the rumours ought to be taken seriously, given how little Hamas appears to care for them.
He cited the horrific killing of six hostages in tunnels under Rafah in late August.
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the six were ‘cruelly murdered by Hamas just a short time before we got to them.’
The six dead hostages were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, 24,
Carmel Gat, 39, Almog Sarusi, 26, Alex Lubnov, 26,
Ori Danino, 25, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.
Five of those who were recovered had been attending the Nova music festival when Hamas
terrorists began slaughtering festivalgoers, while taking others hostage.

He said the return of the hostages depended entirely on whether Israel is able to make a deal with Hamas.
‘It’s a moment of opportunity where Israel should be issuing a very clear
call that anyone who’s holding a hostage that
releases them will be given free passage for themselves and
their family out of Gaza to another country, as well as a lot of money.
‘In order to encourage them to do that, Israel should also
be reaching out to Egypt and Qatar and tell them to renew the negotiations quickly, not on the
deal that’s been negotiated without success for almost four months, but on a deal
that would bring the hostages home quicker and would obviously require Israel
to end the war.’
He said a deal would likely mean the release of Palestinian prisoners, a controversial point for many Israelis
who believe that their release would simply lead to another October 7-style attack in the
future.

Sinwar’s lair, discovered by Israeli soldiers in the Tel al-Sultan area, was well-resourced, with food, water and other supplies to help him
survive for months underground
These are the disquieting images that show Hamas leader
Yahya Sinwar was callously hiding out in relative comfort
from his underground lair as he ordered his terror group to carry out
the bloodiest massacre Israel has ever endured
But Baskin said it was a mistake to think like this: ‘October 7 wasn’t because of Sinwar.
[It] was because we’re occupying another people for 56 years without enabling them to ever believe
that they’re going to be free, or locking two million people
in Gaza under poverty and telling them that they’ll never be able to leave Gaza.’

He said he hoped the deadly attack would ultimately force Israelis to ‘confront the fallacy of basing its policies, vis-à-vis
the Palestinians, on military force’.
‘For Palestinians, the lessons learned must, first
and foremost, be that there should no longer be an armed struggle as part
of their liberation strategy.
‘Right or wrong, the armed struggle primarily brings death and destruction.’
He added: ‘Every person living between the river and the sea must
have the same right to the same rights.
‘From that principle, we can move forward. Freedom, self-determination, security,
and dignity for all.’
Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams
of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio.
And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was written in his
book, The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of how Qantas sold us out.
Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has
led to him being called ‘upgrade Albo’ – and calls for an inquiry,
Aston told Daily Mail Australia his book is ‘not a hit job
on Anthony Albanese’.
Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that
the Prime Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.
The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by personally requesting them
from the airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce – which the Prime Minister has categorically denied.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese got upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips
to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu.
But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose to shoot the messenger and, in turn, shot
himself in the foot.
He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books and said he was
hiding his employment history.
‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party
staffer… I don’t see declarations he’s a former
Qantas employee,’ the Prime Minister said.
But before the book even gets to the contents page there is a photo of Aston that refers
to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications senior adviser.

Anthony Albanese (right) is pictured with his fiance Jodie Haydon (left)
and then Qantas CEO Alan Joyce on March 31, 2023 in Sydney,

And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked for
then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, who held the southern Sydney seat of Cook before
Scott Morrison.
‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in the first line of the first page of the
book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night, just before his book launch.
Though he was grateful for the free publicity
Mr Albanese’s response gave the book, Aston was still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the Prime Minister made.
‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this many times with public figures and leaders who struggle to see their own part in it, the terrible circumstances
that they create,’ he said.

Extravagant Qantas perk Anthony Albanese FAILED to declare is revealed…
after two days of denials
Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack,
Aston, who is a former Australian Financial Review columnist,
wonders if the Prime Minister ‘even listens to advice at this point’.
‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s
blaming me and he’s blaming other MP’s for also taking upgrades
(on Qantas flights).
‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which
is, did you ask Qantas for confirmed upgrades on your private holidays when you were the Transport Minister?
The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to avoid saying it.’
Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime
Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight upgrades.
Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so many people are struggling to pay their
mortgage or rent, the latest blow to his credibility has led
to calls for him to resign.
Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though.
‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this part to get this far.
I really am shocked at how it’s blown up.

‘So to the extent that it has, I would say … anyone who
reads the book will learn that this book is not a hit job on Anthony Albanese.
This book is about Qantas.
‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences politicians on both sides of
the aisle, Labor, Liberal, National, you name it.
They’ve been doing it for more than a generation.
‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia. I’m not here trying to get a scalp.
That’s not what this book is about and it never was.’
But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors the conversations being had across
Australia and eventually winds up back on Mr Albanese.
‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with the freebie mindset
of politicians,’ he said.
Guests at Joe Aston’s book launch on Tuesday night are pictured pointing for emphasis or to someone they recognise

where his book The Chairman’s Lounge was launched
‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics a long time and that kind of behaviour is quite normalised to him, is what I’ve seen.
‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at the front row of the Australian Open Tennis.
‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year
for 12 years and he was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).
‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to sit in the front row of the International Grand Slam.
He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever seen do that.
‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get what it looks like to others when he’s on the gravy train. And I think
(the claims in the book are) just another example of that.’
In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s travel to be booked in economy,
then someone in their office phones the airline and asks if their flight can be upgraded.
The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a very direct line to Alan Joyce,
‘ Aston said.
‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade where it’s in the booking and if
the seat’s empty when the flight closes, you’ll get upgraded.
‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade
where the ticket is converted and you are guaranteed.
You’re not going to the airport crossing your fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.
‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a
seat and the only person at Qantas who can issue those types of upgrades is the CEO.
No other executive can do that.
‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised these upgrades (for Anthony
Albanese).’
Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during
his time as a travel journalist, and understands the attraction for
politicians to get up there.
‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too.
Once you’ve experienced the front of the plane,
it’s very hard to go back.
‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got chauffeured cars
and they fly in business, but they don’t get paid like CEOs …
‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford to go flying
around in the front of the plane on personal travel.
‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’
Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.
But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events.
Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.
‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas for comment.

Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is
at the heart of their reason for entering Parliament
in the first place hear themselves?
In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that
the major parties look set to come together to support.
The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals
can donate, caps on the amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to prevent the
equivalent of an arms race, and a $90million limit on what any party can spend at an election – actually less than the major parties currently spend.
The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure
thresholds for donations, thus increasing the transparency of who makes
political donations in the first place.
So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while
using their cash to influence election outcomes – and the
extent to which they can use their wealth at all will be limited.
The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed
and frequency that disclosures of donations need to be made.
At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made – but you only find out the details of who has given what to whom many
months later, well after elections are won and lost.
In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result in much greater transparency and far less
big money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.
Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the
policy and warned the reform would ‘not stop the rot’
Greens senate leader Larissa Waters (left) fired a warning
shot – saying if it serves only the major parties ‘it’s
a rort, not reform’. Teal independent ACT senator
David Pocock (right) said: ‘What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up’
Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party,
as opposed to $16,000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having done so.
And how much they can donate will be capped.
Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and ‘a rort,
not a reform’.
They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal
just might secure the support of the opposition.
I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to write this
column.
Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence
of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling Greens or the corruption-fighting
Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag the major parties closer to accountability.
More fool me.
The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is
being put forward by Labor and is opposed by a growing cabal of
crossbenchers.
It makes you wonder what they have to hide.
Put simply, the Greens and Teals doth protest too much on this
issue.
Labor is thought to be trying to muscle out major political donors
such as Clive Palmer
Another potential target of the laws is businessman and Teal funder Simon Holmes à Court
The Greens have taken massive donations in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules (Greens leader Adam Bandt and Senator
Mehreen Faruqi are pictured)
The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes à Court wields behind
the scenes amongst the Teals.
And we know the Greens have taken massive donations from the wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations rules.
Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running a mile
from reforms that will curtail dark art of political donations.
The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules
to take effect immediately, by the way. It won’t be some
sort of quick-paced power play before the next election designed to catch the crossbench out.
They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving
everyone enough time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them.
Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to
go over the laws with a fine tooth comb.
As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking advantage of,
therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come.
But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these
proposed laws implemented, the crossbench should offer their support, not
cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.
They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could be incorporated
in the package.
To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary about being in politics
to ‘clean things up’.

It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as he was dating another one of the stars of Purple Rain during the making of the
film, Susan Moonsie.
Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the 2004 Grammy Awards, performing a medley that included his iconic 1984 single Purple Rain.
Their duet also included her fan favorite number Crazy In Love, which saw him accompany her
on the electric guitar.
Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared his appraisal of Beyonce’s musical abilities
when they worked together.
‘I was really curious as to how much she knew musically, and I was
really pleased to find out that she knew a lot
about scales – Mixolydian scales and Egyptian styles and different
things like that,’ he said.
‘And I was just trying to show her some chords on the piano and help her to respect
the fact that if she learns piano à la
Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles and things like that, the sky’s
the limit as to what she could do, ’cause she’s so
very talented.’
Prince died of an accidental overdose in 2016 at the age of just 57.
Earlier this year Beyonce posted a heartwarming Instagram montage of herself wearing a t-shirt promoting Prince on what would have been his
66th birthday.

Joker: Folie À Deux director Todd Phillips ‘wanted nothing to do
with DC’ during making of the $200million flop film, a new
report has claimed.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film – stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and was considered a
surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures – but was
slammed by critics and failed to ignite at the box office.
The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical
and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted
nothing to do with DC’ during the making of the film, with DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from
the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.
A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe
$150 [million] worldwide. Not a billion. People showed
up because that guy was Joker.’
In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the
film does not include a DC Studios logo.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of
31% and a critic score of 32%

Joker: Folie À Deux is branded ‘bleak’ and the ‘most disappointing follow-up’ by critics
A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel.
while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.
Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of
Warner Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to
his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who
took control of DC two months before production began on Joker
2 in December 2022.
Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s
cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter: ‘With
all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros. movie.’
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia
and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at
a lower price point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would
have cost around 20 per cent less.
However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.

A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one

don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.
Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed
back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice.
Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the film bombed at
the box office on opening night.
It has only made $114million worldwide against its $200million budget.
The psychological musical thriller — which has been criticized as
‘bleak’ and ‘disappointing’ — officially released in theaters
on Friday, October 4, but it only raked in $20 million at
the domestic box office, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the
sequel, which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film, while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee
Quinzel (Harley Quinn).
However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a
D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a
comic book movie.
Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year and also received
terrible reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of 31% and a critic score of 32%.
The sequel is projected to rake in less that $50 million at the
domestic box office during the entirety of opening weekend,
per The Hollywood Reporter.
Weeks ago, the movie had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number has since drastically dropped.
Joker (2019) notably opened with $96.2 million when the
film first released in theaters – and eventually landed a little over $1
billion in the global box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Todd Phillips – had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget increased for Folie À Deux to around $200 million.
The 2019 movie garnered praise and positive reviews from
both critics and audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th Venice
International Film Festival.
Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker (Arthur Fleck) – and the film garnered an additional Academy Award for
Best Original Score.
The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film
Festival last month in September, where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation,
per Deadline.
A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one could get through
to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff: If
you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.
However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions on the sequel,
which features musical sequences.
One fan penned, ‘Joaquin Phoenix don’t deserve this.
what happened to the script?’ while another added,
‘is it that bad,’ followed by a crying face emoji.
‘Ironically I feel that a musical, if done well, could have been a good choice.
It’d show how much of an unreliable narrator Fleck is,’ one typed.
‘But with some original songs, that keep everything vague, not just covers.
Also when I heard of the ending I snorted fr.’
A social media user wrote, ‘Stop making sequels as musicals if the original wasn’t a musical.’
‘Maybe he [Phillips] only had an hour long movie, and decided to
randomly add musical scenes to fill the runtime,’ one penned.
‘Joker downfall really needs to be studied,’ another shared,
along with a monkey staring out a window.
One fan said, ‘the movie sucks. i had to walk out of the cinema,’ while another
penned, ‘After years of disagreement….*Joker 2 releases*
Critics [shaking hands] Audience.’
However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their
opinions over the sequel, which was also a musical

another shared, along with a monkey staring out a window
‘That’s way below what we expected,’ one wrote in regards to the current Rotten Tomatoes scores.
‘People are saying this is the worst sequel ever.’
A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.
has the aesthetic of an arthouse film without the substance.’
‘It also insults the audience’s intelligence. the songs
were also underwhelming too. they shouldn’t have let this escape to theaters.’
One shared, ‘The audience that loved the first movie is not the same audience
running to see musicals. This was a gigantic mistake from step 1.’
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips discussed whether
he would be interested in making a third Joker film or a movie centered around Gaga’s character.
‘It’s not really where this movie is headed for me. I feel
like my time in the DC Universe was these two films.’
Ahead of the movie’s release, Lady Gaga also dropped an accompanying album titled Harlequin on September 27.
Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast
doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday.

The ‘bleak’ sequel, has also received a tepid reception from fans, with some claiming Lady Gaga’s career could be at risk.
While the same director Todd Phillips was back in the hot seat,
critics have said the sequel is just a ‘repeat’ of the first hit but with an added musical
twist.
Most critics have said Todd failed to use Gaga correctly in the
movie and claimed she was only bought in for the musical aspect of it.
While the majority of critics say Joker: Folie À Deux didn’t live
up to expectations, others have dubbed the movie ‘bold’
and ‘brilliant.’
Daily Mail’s Brian Viner commended the move as ‘bold’ and ‘brilliant’
but said it lacked any thrill.
The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said: ‘Today Joker is best remembered as one of the most subversive and original films of the last decade,
while its hugely anticipated sequel is just as bleak and formally daring as
its predecessor’.
Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave
the movie just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.
Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to bump the
ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to have no idea what to do with her.
Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves ‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’
Joker: Folie À Deux has been branded the ‘most disappointing follow-up to the Oscar-winning movie’ by critics, as they cast doubt on Lady Gaga’s ‘thin’ role in the film following its release on Friday; seen in September
in London
The Times’ Kevin Maher wrote: ‘The director Todd Phillips said there would be no follow-up to
the original, but he changed his mind and
the result is a derivative musical’
‘This might be the most disappointing follow-up to an Oscar-winning performance since Anthony
Hopkins reworked his silky and terrifying Dr Lecter from for
the campy, kitschy.’
Along with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, other stars that had appeared in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine
Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve Coogan.
Joker: Folie à Deux has faced additional backlash from fans as they have claimed that Gaga is running
the risk of losing her acting career.
Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely comfortable with
posing nude during her modeling days.
In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how her nude photos were
put on the cover of The New York Post during the closing weeks of the 2016 presidential election.
The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described it,
‘Menage à Trump.’
‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different perspective on nudity, a more open and accepting attitude,
‘ she wrote. ‘We were accustomed to beaches where
nudity was commonplace, a natural and uncontroversial aspect of life.’
She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body in the United States were starkly different.’
Melania Trump at a Vogue event in 2000. She wrote
in her memoir Melania about her nude photographs shot for the
French magazine Max in 1996 used against her husband politically
The controversial photos were from a 1996 photoshoot from
a now defunct French fashion magazine called Max.
‘The photos had never been circulated in the United States,’ she recalled.
‘The magazine that had originally published them had
ceased to exist long before these images were unearthed, and now they
were being shared for the sole purpose of damaging Donald’s campaign.’
She wrote that the photos ‘were not a source of shame for me.’
‘The female form was once revered and honored in Western culture.
Historically, artists produced magnificent paintings and
sculptures that exalted the beauty of the feminine figure.
Nudity was a medium through which humanity was elevated and celebrated,’ Melania sid.
‘This sentiment resonated deeply with me when I posed for
Vogue during my pregnancy,’ she wrote.
Throughout the book she mentions her working relationship with Vogue and
its longtime top editor Anna Wintour.
These days Wintour is actively supporting former President
Donald Trump’s Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala
Harris.
A 1998 photo of Melania Trump depicting her in a white bikini.
The former first lady said she never felt shame about posing nude but was angered that her nude modeling photos
were used to try to hurt her husband’s first presidential campaign
‘I believed then, as I do now, that women should take pride in their bodies, not feel shame,
‘ Melania continued.
‘During my modeling days, posing nude was commonplace
and hardly scandalous,’ she said. ‘To me, those images were artistic and
tasteful, fitting for a publication like Max, which showcased many renowned super-models.’
But there was another problem with the photographer selling the photos of Melania to the newspaper – he originally said the photoshoot happened a
year before.
‘This misinformation led to unfounded allegations that I had
illegally worked in the United States, a claim propagated by
the New York Post,’ she wrote.
‘Although the photographer later admitted the error, the
damage was done – sensationalized lies about me spread worldwide, driven by a shameful pursuit of scandal and profit,’ the
former first lady added.

26 November 2024Joker: Folie À Deux director Todd Phillips ‘wanted nothing to do with DC’
during making of the $200million flop film, a new report has claimed.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film – stars
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and was considered a surefire hit
for Warner Bros Pictures – but was slammed by critics and failed to ignite
at the box office.
The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical
and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with Phillips’ process telling Variety he ‘wanted
nothing to do with DC’ during the making of the film, with DC bosses
James Gunn and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.
A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally

Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was Joker.’
In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not include a DC Studios logo.

Joker: Folie À Deux is branded ‘bleak’ and the ‘most disappointing follow-up’ by critics
A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the
end of the Joker sequel. while Phillips declined to comment to the
publication.
Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner
Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past
successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.
Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a
reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also
met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was
‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a lower price point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per
cent less.
However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining static.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival,
but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully supported the decision to bring the film to Venice.

A fan explained, ‘yea this film was bad. it was pretentious and dull.

ดอกไม้แสดงความเสียใจ
27 November 2024The existence of an exclusive hideaway for
the country’s movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private
luxury first exploded into the public eye back in 2007.
The ‘scandal’ currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his Chairman’s Lounge membership and
that of his ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring
down the prime minister (above the PM with partner Jodie Haydon and
ex-Qantas CEO Alan Joyce)
PM Anthony Albanese and every member of his 22-person Cabinet, his
seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers are
members of the exclusive Chairman’s Lounge
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and
Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo are members despite regulating the airline

28 November 2024Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the hostages who remain in Gaza
if he died, a top Israeli negotiator has claimed.
Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned
to their families, according Haaretz, which reported on Sunday that top US officials, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, have assessed
there is a slim chance of a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel and Hamas.

deadly October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas, in Tel Aviv, Israel
A senior Israeli official told the newspaper on Sunday,
several days after Sinwar’s passing: ‘There are currently
no serious cease-fire talks, and Blinken is fully aware of
this.’

Gat was at her family kibbutz when she was captured.
The time on the clock by the end of the footage is 1.32am,
just five hours before the first terrorists were spotted breaching into Israeli territory

carnage.
‘We saw the six hostages killed when Israel
was entering the tunnel. That could be the case now.
We just don’t know,’ Baskin said.

US probing ‘leaked Israeli documents’ which ‘indicate Britain’s involvement in a deadly plot’
He said a deal would likely mean the release of Palestinian prisoners, a controversial point for many Israelis
who believe that their release would simply lead to another October 7-style attack in the
future.

Head Yahya Sinwar

Hamas ‘will keep new leader’s identity SECRET to
avoid another assassination’

28 November 2024Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams
of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio.
Joe Aston (pictured) got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio
Anthony Albanese (right) is pictured with his fiance Jodie Haydon (left)
and then Qantas CEO Alan Joyce on March 31, 2023 in Sydney,
Australia

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is pictured with the then Qantas CEO Alan Joyce
Anthony Albanese is pictured on August 14, 2023 as Qantas unveiled its Yes23 livery in support of a Yes vote

Among the movers and shakers at Joe Aston’s book launch in the ritzy
Hemmesphere club in Sydney was Tabcorp director David
Gallop (pictured)
Paul Barry (pictured in blue shirt), the host of the ABC’s Media Watch show, was also at the launch
There was no shortage of free alcohol (pictured) available at the launch of Joe Aston’s book
Joe Aston is pictured in the exclusive Hemmesphere club in Sydney,
where his book The Chairman’s Lounge was launched
The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of how Qantas sold us out, by Joe Aston, is available now in bookshops and from online retailers
WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S LOUNGE?
The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.
It has been dubbed ‘the most exclusive club in the country’ and comes with a distinct black card.
Members include senior-ranking MPs such as ministers, state premiers and the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.
The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide airports but are not signposted – you have to know where to look.
Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool carpet and marble flooring, all bathed in natural light.
Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines. Wine bottles are often given as departing gifts.
Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.
Members may bring in two guests at a time.
Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is ready to board, and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.
Membership also entitles you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

Terrifier 3, written and directed by Damien Leone, is an un-rated blood
fest, which has received a 78-percent rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences have ‘certified’ it ‘hot’ and given it a
healthy 90-percent on the popcornmeter.
The film earned $18.3 million at the box office according to The Numbers.
Landing in third place was Joker: Folie à Deux. After winning
the box office competition during its debut weekend could not overcome the bad reviews, enduring an 82-percent decline in ticket sales.
The movie collected only $7.055 million, in spite of being in more than four thousand theaters across
the US.

The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution, according to the
report.
It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros.
sources claim the number is $375 million.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying
‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives” are grossly wrong and continues a trend where
rumor is reported as fact.’
‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included

So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two

The film is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to
the publication
In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and
$248.4 million globally after three days of release.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film was considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics and failed to ignite at the box office.
Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history as the
film bombed at the box office on opening night.

7 December 2024Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is
at the heart of their reason for entering Parliament
in the first place hear themselves?

10 December 2024Joker: Folie À Deux director Todd Phillips ‘wanted nothing to do
with DC’ during making of the $200million flop film, a new
report has claimed.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score of
31% and a critic score of 32%

production due to Hurricane Helene, while Safran was sick.

A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No one
could get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff: If you
don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.

10 December 2024Former first lady Melania Trump said she was completely comfortable with
posing nude during her modeling days.
